II International Film Festival ‘Eurasia-KinoFest’ in Sochi declares winners

(MENAFN) The second edition of the International Film Festival of Eurasian countries, known as Eurasia-KinoFest, has wrapped up in Sochi, Russia. The event brought together participants from 26 countries and spanned over a week, showcasing films across three main categories: feature-length, short films, and documentaries.

The award for Best Feature Film went to “Navi: Dear Future Me”, a collaborative project by directors Tobi Schmutzler, Kevin Schmutzler, Apuu Mourin, and Valentin Chellugget, representing a partnership between Kenya and Germany.

Kazakh filmmaker Farhat Sharipov’s “Evacuation” received the President’s Prize, with Alexander Plotnikov also being honored for Best Cinematography for his work on the film.

Uzbekistan’s Arutyun Sagatelyan earned the Best Debut award for his film “Sumalak”, while Belarusian director Vladimir Lutskiy’s “The Abode of St. Euphrosyne” was awarded a special prize by the organizing body, the Eurasia non-profit organization.

The Audience Choice Award went to “Two in One Life, Not Counting the Dog” by Russian director Andrey Zaitsev.

A lifetime achievement-style honor, the Contribution to Film Development Award, was presented to acclaimed Serbian-German actor, director, and stunt performer Gojko Mitic.

Additional special awards were presented to films from Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Moldova, and Kazakhstan.

This year’s festival screened a total of 90 films, with nearly half—45—making their premiere during the event.
